In Guadeloupe, the Xiphias swordfish is less famous than its cousin the blue marlin, which is more biting when trolling. Finally, let's say that it hangs more easily. From my experience, however, it is undoubtedly the most powerful fish in big game fishing. It offers combat resistance that is simply mind-blowing. Characteristics of the xiphias swordfish<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Xiphias Gladius swordfish, Gladius like sword, can in Guadeloupe reach 200kg for 4m in length. Its eyes are larger than those of the marlin, it has a flat rostrum and a high dorsal in its first part and very low afterwards. It has a massive, round body, shorter than that of the marlin and its caudal fin is different.<\/p>\n

It lives at a depth of 500m during the day and goes up at night to the 100m range to feed mainly on squid. But it can also feed on tuna, bonito and black tuna.<\/p>\n
