From the tuna family, these 2 species are very present in Guadeloupe.

Black tuna is black on the back and silver on the belly with light copper highlights. Another variety exists with a smaller eye, no scales and a dark blue back.

It weighs 2 kg to 5 kg and can measure up to 60 cm. It feeds on shrimp, small fish and small squid.

It is fished either by jig with lures of 80g to 150g depending on the current or by slow trolling with Octopus.

On light rods of 20lbs to 30lbs, the fights are powerful and the sensations are very pleasant.
